Canelo Alvarez vows to make Charlo brothers pay for insults

Canelo Alvarez has warned the Charlo twin brothers they will pay for what they said about him ahead of a blockbuster showdown in Nevada.

The undisputed super middleweight world champion was pulling no punches as he showed off the skills that have made him a global icon.

Canelo held a workout in the United States on Wednesday as he prepares to take on the king of 154 pounds, Jermell Charlo. He showed excellent head movement and footwork he and coach Eddy Reynoso plan to use to bamboozle Charlo.

The pair will headline a SHOWTIME PPV on Saturday, September 30, from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Canelo Promotions will present the Premier Boxing Champions Pay-Per-View.

As the bout draws near, the Mexican superstar alluded that he may go after Jermall Charlo once he deals with the first sibling.

Canelo Alvarez fires warning to Charlo brothers

“I always want to make the best fights out there. I’m excited to be in this fight. This is a fight that people have talked about for a while. I’m excited to show the Charlos my skills. Now, Jermell is going to feel my skills.

“I think Jermell Charlo is the perfect fight right now. He’s been calling me out for a long time. I never forget. He’s said a lot of things.

“He never believed in my skills in the boxing ring, but he will find out soon. He and his brother didn’t believe in my skills. That motivated me in this fight.

“We always prepare 100% no matter where we are. It’s different being here. At the beginning, I couldn’t breathe very well. But right now, I feel great. I’ve found a place that’s made me happy and strong.

“Charlo will be good at 168 pounds. I’ve made that jump before, so I know. I think that when you’re a great champion like he is, it doesn’t matter.

“These kinds of fights motivate me. I like being underestimated. That’s what makes me excited for this fight.”

Champion

Currently holding the WBC, IBF, WBA, and WBO belts at 160, Canelo can add another benchmark to his already historic career. With a triumph over Charlo, he can become the first man during the four-belt era to successfully defend all four world titles three consecutive times.

Already a pound-for-pound great in different weight classes, the former super welterweight ruler can call the shots for a second Charlo fight if his hands are raised this month.

In his three-fight deal with PBC, Terence Crawford and Dmitry Bivol are two other opponents Saul could target after September 30.

Wins over Caleb Plant, Gennadiy ‘GGG’ Golovkin, and John Ryder were recently blotted by a loss to Bivol. Canelo is known to want a rematch at the earliest convenience.

The future Hall of Fame legend holds standout victories over star boxers Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, and Sergey Kovalev against one other majority decision defeat against the great Floyd Mayweather.

Tickets for the live undisputed super middleweight championship event, which Canelo Promotions and TGB Promotions promote, are available through AXS.com.
