World Boxing Council confirms two new world title fights

World Boxing Council chiefs set the latest two world title bouts to be confirmed this week, with one purse bid settled and another announced.

The super featherweight and minimumweight classes will soon have title defenses made by their respective champions.

World Boxing Council super featherweight title

Firstly, the World Boxing Council announced that by its Rules and Regulations, a purse bid would be held for the rights to organize the match for the world super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster.

He has been ordered to face the mandatory challenger, Eduardo Hernández, ranked number one.

It will occur on Tuesday, August 8, during the weekly press conference in Mexico City. Interested promoters can participate via Zoom.

Foster, from the USA, defeated Mexican two-division world champion Rey Vargas in February. He won the vacant World Boxing Council 130-pound belt at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

He will now comply with the first mandatory defense of his WBC belt.

Mexican Eduardo Hernández reached the number-one spot in the WBC super lightweight rankings. He achieved important victories during the past three years.

Minimumweight

The WBC has held a purse bid for the mandatory strawweight bout between champion Panya Pradabsri from Thailand and interim champion Yudai Shigeoka from Japan.

Kameda Promotions, represented by Mr. Shinji Fukamachi, obtained the rights to promote the bout. They bid the amount of USD 213,000, outbidding Petchyindee Boxing Promotions, represented by Mr. Piyarat Vachirarattatanawong, with USD 170,000.

Pradabsri is coming off a successful defense of his title in June by defeating Japanese challenger Norihito Tanaka by technical knockout in the eighth round in Rayong, Thailand.

Shigeoka won the interim title last April by knocking out former Puerto Rican champion Wilfredo “Bimbito” Méndez in the seventh round in Tokyo, Japan.

Furthermore, ten percent of the total bid will be reserved to be paid as a bonus to the winner.
