Spence vs Crawford close for undisputed Las Vegas showdown

Spence vs Crawford – Errol Spence Jr. vs Terence Crawford is growing closer by the day for a massive match-up in Las Vegas.

Three-belt welterweight king Spence Jr. is open to agreeing to a clash with Crawford in 2022 after admitting other doors are open for negotiations.

Spence vs Crawford

Crawford left Bob Arum and Top Rank after beating Shawn Porter last November. Since then, the promotional free agency has made the fight more viable.

Spence defeated Yordenis Ugas on April 16 in Texas for three versions of the welterweight crown. The victory made the Crawford Pay Per View even more lucrative for the pair.

Regarding his willingness to sit around a table with Crawford, Spence also stated at the time that undisputed status is a priority.

“It wasn’t my first thought. But talking to my manager, the people he’s dealing with now, I think it’s a lot easier to make,” Spence told The DAZN Boxing Show.

“We’ll see what happens after the Ugas thing. If I have three belts.”

He added on going for another title: “A lot of people want me to say this and that. But the proof is in the pudding of what I’m doing.

“I’m fighting for my third belt. Let’s get something on the table so I can fight for a fourth belt.”

The boxing world continues to crave the fight. It’s one of the sport’s top three Pay Per View that could generate big money.

Shawn Porter, who fought both men, aired his views in a recent episode of The Last Stand Podcast.

“Absolutely. Terence Crawford versus Errol Spence will be an explosion. I can guarantee that,” said Porter.

“Errol likes to be commander-in-chief. He likes to control the ring. He likes to do what he wants to do. Against me, he chose to try to beat me at my own game.”

“Terence goes, ‘I’m coming to the ring. This is what I’m going to do; stop me’. You got two guys saying stop me. You can’t beat that!”

Pursuit

Regarding negotiations, both men seem to be on the same page. Details are still getting worked out in the background. However, World Boxing News understands that the pair are no longer pursuing other fights for 2022.

Spence spoke to FightHub TV when saying: “It’s closer now than it’s ever been. If it doesn’t happen now, it’s never going to happen.

“It’s way closer than it used to be. I think it’s definitely going to happen.”

Reality

Crawford told ESPN about making the bout a reality: “Hopefully. That’s the plan.

“It’s up to us to get the job done on the business side. It’s up to us to be able to share the ring for all you guys who want to see us share the ring together.

“I think the time right now is the best time. It’s for all the marbles. Errol Spence has got three of the titles. I’ve got one.

“It would be for the undisputed. There wouldn’t be any other champion in the division. This is the biggest moment for us two to fight.”

Fingers remain firmly crossed. The winner of the fight would also be the new Pound for Pound king.
