Canelo Alvarez says Jermell Charlo fight is all about levels

Canelo Alvarez warned Jermell Charlo that their upcoming blockbuster showdown is about levels between the two champions.

The undisputed super middleweight world champion faces the WBC, IBF, WBO, and WBA super welterweight champion, knowing another loss is unthinkable.

Las Vegas saw the pair make their grand arrivals on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they got to address each other before the Showtime PPV at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.

Feeling disrespected, Canelo aimed venom at Charlo, stating the two boxers are worlds apart despite a clutch of world titles each.

“He’s called me out for a long time. I’m going to show him what I can do in just a couple of days,” promised Canelo.

“He’s going to feel it. It’s hard to explain it, but it’s just something different. He’s not used to being in there with a fighter like me.

“Just make sure you tune in. It’s going to be a great fight. I don’t know what animal I need to be, but I’m that animal. Tune in on September 30. It’s going to be good, believe me.

Canelo Alvarez feels disrespected by Charlo

“I feel great and ready for this fight. Jermell is right – I have nothing to prove. But this time, I have something to prove to him. He never believed in my skills. He’s been calling me out.

“Now I have the opportunity to show him my skills. And that motivates me. I had a great camp. I’m ready to show everybody my new skills.”

On his preparations, the Mexican superstar added: “I always train one hundred percent and motivate myself, but it’s even more for this fight.

“I never overlook any fighter. I know what he’s going to bring. I’m ready. I’ve been in there with all types of fighters. He hasn’t experienced this kind of level of fight. You will see, and you will learn.

“I want history for my career. I want to achieve a lot of things. This is another one of them. I can’t wait.

“People will always have something negative to say. I have to prove that I’m still on top.”

As World Boxing News explained, Canelo cannot overhaul pound-for-pound number one Terence Crawford even if he’s successful this weekend.

Recent wins over opponents Caleb Plant, John Ryder, and Gennadiy ‘GGG’ Golovkin, alongside a defeat to Dmitry Bivol [also in Nevada], won’t be enough for the living legend.

Alvarez would need to beat Bivol in a rematch to reach the pinnacle again, with Charlo the first step on a three-fight deal with Premier Boxing Champions.
