Tyson Fury ‘won’t belong in the Hall of Fame’ with current record

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury won’t belong in the Boxing Hall of Fame with his current record of 33-0-1. That’s according to compatriot Carl Froch, who gave a damning verdict.

Froch was complaining about recent comments made by Fury where “The Gypsy King” chose money over glory after winning every title the sport has to offer.

Fury faces ex-UFC titleholder Francis Ngannou next month in a money-spinning event in Saudi Arabia. The WBC gave Fury special dispensation to overlook the fifteen contenders waiting in line from the WBC voluntary rankings.

However, the way Fury spoke recently, he has no intention of defending the title against any WBC challenger. Therefore, many calls have followed to strip Fury now rather than wait for him to relinquish the belt.

Tyson Fury won’t be a Hall of Famer

Speaking on his Froch on Fighting YouTube channel, “The Cobra” stated Fury will not be a Hall of Famer with his two-time champion curriculum vitae as it stands.

“You’re taking the money. That’s great, but when your career’s over, you want your legacy to be intact,” insisted Froch. “The fans are turning against you, and it’s sad to see.

“Deep down, I think you know you’re hurting the sport. You’re taking the money instead of being full of pride for the sport.”

The recently inducted Hall of Famer added: “I’ll tell you something as well. You can have as much money as you want.

“But if you turn up to a Hall of Fame party next year, you won’t be dining on the top table with me and my peers. You won’t belong there with that CV.”

Those words from Froch may not phase Fury, who has set a target of making more money than any other sportsman over the next twelve months.

I’ve got new goals,” stated Fury. “I want to top the Forbes list for the highest-paid athlete for the year.

“I want to make a Hollywood movie. I’ve completed the game in the ring. It’s done. I’ve done everything there is to do and won every belt there is to win.”

Many involved in the sport would argue that until Fury fights Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua, nothing is close to being ‘done’ in his career.

Those two are the last generational rivals Fury needs to face after he defeated Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder. The rest of his thirty victories leave much to be desired from the consensus.
