Arum says Mayweather has ducked Pacquiao for years

Pacquiao, 36, met with royalty in England on Thursday after being invited to dinner with Prince Harry and is said to be looking into the possibility of facing the UK’s Amir Khan in London if Mayweather fails to sign his side of the contract for the proposed May 2 fight.

Arum explained that the ball is firmly in Mayweather’s court regarding a $250m super-fight, but couldn’t resist a dig at the pound for pound king when asked by Seckbach to comment on how Pacquiao has come from nothing to be dining with the British Royal Family.

“It’s a great story. It shows how you can reach the top of the sport and not be an asshole and insult people and think that it is part of what it means to be on top,” said Arum in a clear reference to Mayweather.

“Manny doesn’t insult the media and doesn’t insult the fans,” he added, before stating that Mayweather had ducked Pacquiao for six years later in the clip.

The Top Rank boss also cleared up Pacquiao’s political position and said that the Filipino Congressman will only be running for Senate in 2016 and won’t be a candidate for President until 2022.
