Rising Star Promotions is pleased to announce the signing of Flyweight contender Miguel Cartagena.
Cartagena of Philadelphia has a record of 15-5-1 with six knockouts.
After a stellar amateur, Cartagena turned professional in 2011, and won his first 12 bouts with signature victories over Angel Carvajal (2-0) and Miguel Robles (12-3-2). Cartagena also has an impressive 1st round knockout over Jobert Alvarez (15-1-1).
Cartagena won the IBO International Super Bantamweight championship with a win over Javier Franco.
Cartagena has also fought current undefeated bantamweight world champion Emmanuel Rodriguez as well as former two-division world champion Brian Viloria.
“We are very happy to have signed Miguel Cartagena,” said Rising Star Promotions President, Debbie LaManna.
“He is a terrific boxer who at still age 26, his best fights are ahead of him. We look forward to having him fight on our shows, and eventually a world championship.”
“I am excited for the opportunity to sign with Thomas LaManna and his promotional company. I feel confident because it is someone I can trust,” said Cartagena
“My biggest downfall has been inactivity. I would win a fight, and look great, and then be off for like eight months. So signing with Rising Star will keep me active. If everything goes as planned, I see myself back in the big fights within the next year. I can see myself fighting any and all of the significant fighters in the flyweight or light flyweight divisions
“Look for me back on November 16th”
