Kell Brook: I’ll stay at 147 for Amir Khan, want to shut him up more than anything

The 30 year-old is being linked to a run at super-welterweight following a failed move up to 160 against Gennady Golovkin and was recently called out by Amir Khan in an exclusive interview with WBN.

Khan informed World Boxing News he would only face ‘The Special One’ at the lower of the two limits and Brook has now stated he has no problem stalling any move to 154 in order to secure a massive domestic super-fight with the 2004 Olympic silver medallist.

“I’m still taking it easier, enjoying time with my family, but I really believe for the right fight I will get back down to welterweight again,” Brook said to Sky Sports.

“That is where the big fights are at the moment, and it has to be one that excites me because other than that, it takes too much out of me.

“If Amir Khan finally stepped up and if the fight is nailed and all signed, that’s when you’ll see me back at 147.

“I’ve heard all that rubbish before (from Khan), but at the end of the day, you all know I want that fight with Khan for everyone and to shut him up – more than anything.”

Brook has Errol Spence gunning to meet him in the New Year but may decide to aim for the likes of the Charlo Brothers and Canelo Alvarez should the Khan clash once again fail to materialize yet again.
