Teper was allowed to box three weeks early by the German Commission (BDB), who had originally banned the fighter from competing for a year last summer.
Following a knockout win over Briton David Price, Teper was found to have tested positive before and after the contest, which led to the BDB imposing a one-year sanction and the European Boxing Union a two-year ban.
The EBU have since upheld the sentence they laid down, which included stripping the boxer and turning the result over Price into a no-contest, although the BDB showed leniency to allow Teper to make his return.
The 34 year-old shook off some considerable ring rust over the ten rounds he shared with journeyman Rossy but failed to set the world alight at the Gellersenhalle Reppenstedt in Niedersachsen.
Scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94 were a mixed bag from the judges as Teper took his record to 16-0 amidst outrage from supporters of Price in the United Kingdom.
Both Price and trainer David Coldwell have made their feelings clear regarding Teper entering the ring early and believe the BDB were wrong to clear the former EBU title holder for battle.
A fine set by the BDB – which the organization stated was a fitting punishment – was frowned upon by Price, who says his team should be given compensation for the preparation they undertook for the original fight with Teper.
