The 28 year-old overcame Chris Algieri on Friday night, whilst Brook battered compatriot Frankie Gavin into submission a day later, to set the fighters up for some sterner tests down the line.
Both Khan and Brook are said to be in the Mayweather sweepstakes for the fall, alongside WBA title holder Keith Thurman, although Bolton’s finest has ruled out the pair meeting themselves later this year and didn’t even bother to watch his potential future foe’s contest.
“Facing Kell Brook could be of interest down the line,” Khan told The Bolton News.
“That’s for the future, though, I am not focusing on him at present because there are other bigger names out there for me.
“I didn’t watch his fight against Frankie Gavin because as far as I was concerned it was always going to be another walk in the park fight for Brook.
“It is not like the opponents I fought when I was world champion.
“One day it will happen because it would be a big fight for the fans in the UK and I would like to have a big fight in front of them again in the future.”
Brook, also 28, has defended his IBF belt twice since dethroning the talented Shawn Porter in the USA last August and is eyeing the likes of Brandon Rios and Juan Manuel Marquez for a return in late August if Mayweather doesn’t come calling.
It seems nailing down a fight with Khan is also off the immediate agenda for ‘The Special One’ and UK fans will have to continue to be patient in order to finally see the two best British welterweights square off in a huge Wembley Showdown.
