IBF Convention to take place in Puerto Rico May 6 to May 10

The IBF’s 39th Annual Convention, slated for next month, will take place at The San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino in San Juan, Puerto Rico from May 6 – 10, 2024.

Puerto Rico, a destination steeped in boxing history, serves as an excellent location for the IBF to celebrate its 41st year. The IBF has hosted successful conventions in Puerto Rico in the past, and the expectation is the same for this one.

In commemoration of the boxers that fight for the organization’s titles, the IBF also presents annual awards at each convention. The IBF is proud to announce its top award recipients for 2023 to be presented at the Awards Banquet closing the organization’s convention festivities on Thursday, May 9, 2024.

Jersey Joe Walcott Award

The Jersey Joe Walcott Award, the organization’s highest honor for male champions, will go to Subriel Matias. Matias won the IBF Jr. Welterweight title with an outstanding win over Jeremias Ponce. He followed with an exciting defense of the title against Shohjahon Ergashev in which he was once again victorious.

Female Fighter of the Year

Receiving the IBF Female Fighter of the Year Award is Amanda Serrano. Amanda is a force and a leader in female boxing. She became the Undisputed Featherweight Champion in September of 2022 beating Sarah Mahfoud and has successfully defended her title 3 times since then.
