Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo entered the Tuesday lion’s den of the MGM Grand as the pair kicked off fight week festivities in the boxing capital.

The two undisputed champions, one at super middleweight and the other at super welterweight were greeted by a mass of excitable fans.

A global superstar, Canelo always commands respect in Nevada. For Charlo, the grand arrivals wouldn’t have been something he’s seen on this scale. It’s a testament to how much interest the fight has generated.

Canelo vs Charlo is a historic showdown between two champions and pound-for-pound stars, headlining a SHOWTIME PPV this Saturday night. September 30 will be fireworks from T-Mobile Arena as Canelo Promotions will present the Premier Boxing Champions pay-per-view.

Canelo and Charlo will meet in the first matchup of the four-belt era, pitting two reigning male undisputed champions against each other.

In the fight, Canelo puts his 168-pound title belts on the line. Both fighters expressed their excitement about the fight after entering the luxury resort.

“I feel the love and support from my people. I’m proud to represent my country,” said Canelo. “I am one hundred percent right now and ready to show you a different Canelo on Saturday.

“Charlo is a great fighter who knows how to box. He is strong and has nothing to lose. He came to my division to win it all. But I’ve been in this position for a long time. I’m ready.”

Charlo added: “These fans think Canelo is the best in the world, but I’m going to come here and show that I’m the best.

“I do this for the dogs, the hungry ones. I do it for the animals. I’m made for this. After I beat Canelo, the world will scream, ‘Charlo, Charlo!’ You dig?

“Now it’s my turn, my time, my moment. I’m going to shine on Saturday night. We can’t talk about it; we have to be about it. Fight night, you’ll all see what that means.”

According to the odds from BetMGM, Canelo is a -350 favorite. Meanwhile, Charlo is a +275 underdog aiming to inflict a third loss on the Mexican superstar.

Canelo lost to Dmitry Bivol in a shock reverse occurring in May 2022 at the same venue. He will be looking to ensure Charlo doesn’t do similar once the first bell rings.

Tickets for the live event, which Canelo Promotions and TGB Promotions promote, are available through AXS.com.
