Ricky Hatton will be Tyson Fury’s corner third as Freddie Roach works as a cutman. It has been confirmed.

Lead trainer Ben Davison will head fury’s team in what is seen as a dream corner.

Roach, 58, revealed the news of his inclusion as Fury prepares for a December 1 clash with Deontay Wilder.

“He asked me if I’d work in his corner,” Roach told Sports Illustrated. “He asked me if I could do cuts. I said, ‘Yeah, I have guys better than me, though.’

“He said, ‘Do you know what you’re doing?’ And I said, ‘Of course I do. I have everything you need.’ So I’m the cutman.”

A former coach for the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto, Roach has a wealth of knowledge. Fury and Davison can tap into this at the Staples Center on December 1.

Furthermore, former Pacquiao opponent Hatton will add even more charisma to fight night proceedings.

Hatton has been working with Fury’s younger brother Tommy recently. 19-year-old Tommy is making his pro debut this year.

Despite the double Hall of Famer additions, Davison was keen to point out his role remained the most important.

“Definitely not,” said Davison on whether this means his position was under threat. “It was me who asked Freddie,” he added.

A short while later, Davison followed it up with: “Don’t look into it (Roach addition) too much. I’m in charge.

“I’m Tyson’s trainer, and what I say goes. But what better second could you get than Freddie? Simple as that.”

Discussing Fury’s chances against Wilder, Roach said: “I think he has the ability to outbox (Deontay Wilder). He can’t out punch him. If he tries to slug with him, he’ll get caught.

“But he’s a good boxer, and he has good legs, and I think he can box for 12 rounds without any problem whatsoever.

“He seems to be in very good condition. Boxing here, he has gone up to 12 rounds a couple of times.

“His best asset is his sight. He sees what’s happening in there. He’s not going to get hit with a right hand out of the left field.

“I like him in this fight a lot. I think he has a great game plan to win this fight,” he added.
