Respected trainer and former fighter Floyd Mayweather Sr. says his son could beat Manny Pacquiao without a tune-up and believes UFC two-weight champion Conor McGregor should stick to what he’s good at.

Senior was reacting to questions regarding possible fights for Floyd Jr. against Pacquiao in May of next year, alongside a ground-breaking crossover fight with Irish superstar McGregor.

Floyd Sr. on Mayweather

“My honest opinion is that he can beat his [Pacquiao’s] a** right now. He might go to kill his ass this time,” Floyd Sr. told Fighthype.com.

On McGregor demanding $100m to fight Mayweather in a boxing match, dropping any MMA advantage, Senior stated to the same source: “He (McGregor) needs to go do MMA (because) ain’t nobody ever got $100 million for wrestling.

“If they get in a ring, it’s too much (as) he doesn’t even know nothing about boxing,” he added.

Mayweather reiterated this week that he won’t be fighting again following a retirement lasting over fourteen months.

There are still plenty of non-believers to Mayweather’s insistence as money has always talked with the five-weight king, and the chance to make over $200m to face Pacquiao again could be too much to resist.

As for McGregor, Mayweather would be a massive favorite to cruise the contest. However, whether UFC boss Dana White would ever allow his fighter to compete under Queensberry Rules is up for considerable debate.
