Hearn / Eubank Sr. confirm Golovkin v Jr. deal is imminent

Upon Chris Jr. impressively defeating Tom Doran in four rounds on Saturday night at the O2 Arena, Senior and Hearn both stated that a deal to challenge the number one 160 pound fighter on the planet is close.

“Golovkin – we are coming,” Eubank Sr. told Sky Sports. “We are signing with you this week. Sky is going to make it happen.

“This is what I believe and so, therefore, the talk can stop and we can meet to look each other in the eye. I’m talking about my son and yeah, we’re ready.” he added.

Promoter Eddie Hearn had previously stated to Sky in the ring after Eubank’s win: “Golovkin is ready to accept the fight. We’ll talk this week and hopefully, that can get made. There are not many people that want to fight Golovkin – but Chris does.

“They want the big fights, they want to fight the very best and I believe Chris Eubank Jr. versus Gennady Golovkin could well get made this week.”

Golovkin v Eubank Jr. is slated for a stadium in England as early as September and would see another of the world’s pound for pound best travelling to the UK on the back of Guillermo Rigondeaux’s meeting with Jazza Dickens in Wales next month.
