Amir Khan has scoffed at suggestions he’s avoiding fellow-Brit Kell Brook after making the step up two weight divisions to face Canelo Alvarez.
The 29 year-old has agreed to challenge Mexican Canelo for the WBC middleweight title on May 7 following the collapse of talks for a summer UK clash with Brook.
Khan stunned the boxing world with the announcement of the encounter, which has fast become the most talked about event of the year.
Promoter Oscar De La Hoya, who brokered the deal, described Canelo v Khan as two ‘super-powers’ colliding head on.
Canelo v Khan is set to take place in Las Vegas, with early indications placing the new Las Vegas Arena as the favourite to stage the bout.
