Arreola leads Wilder chase, Povetkin mandatory talks begin

World Boxing Council heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder ( 34-0, 33 KO´s) made the first defense of his title last June 13th after defeating Eric Molina and wants to be back the ring on September 26th via NBC.

No opponent definitely yet confirmed, with the most likely candidate being former world contender, Chris Arreola.

Wilder, who was at the ringside of Danny García vs. Paulie Malignaggi last Saturday night, commented:

“I don’t fear anyone! When I became WBC world champion I promised to be an active. I don’t want to fight only for money. I want to fight against those who are willing to take my belt from me, as I want real challenges. The only thing I can do is to keep training.

“The official contender is Alexander Povetkin and this fight is already in negotiation. I don’t believe he will be my next opponent, but I am willing to have that fight soon. That fight has to happen.”
