Frank Warren has branded rival Eddie Hearn ‘pathetic’ for staging a Pay-Per-View show on the same night as his marquee event of the year.
Warren has been building up to a massive event for the whole of 2018, only for Hearn to confirm a rematch between Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora for the same night.
Given weeks to arrange an alternative date, Hearn said he had no choice but to continue with similar December 22 plans.
Hearn was unable to find any other day to ensure fans were not asked to fork out for two PPV’s at the same time, three days before Christmas.
Between them, Hearn and Warren have now revealed the actual figure which could be lost from Whyte v Chisora II.
“It’s just pathetic that Hearn decided to put on that show the same night as our bill. The people who will suffer are the four fighters because their purses will be hit,” said Warren at Wednesday’s final press conference.
“It’s alright Hearn saying it will only take away around 50,000 buys from his show. But even if that is correct, that’s still three-quarters of a million quid that could be going to the fighters.”
Continuing with a chalk and cheese view on the cards offered to fans, Warren added: “Let’s get it right, there is no comparison between the two shows.
“Frampton and Warrington is a top quality world title fight. The other one is headed by two heavyweights at British level.
“Whyte has already been chinned by Anthony Joshua and Chisora has lost seven out of eight meaningful fights.
“It’s a bit like going in to buy your wife a Ralph Lauren watch or deciding to buy the knock-off one from the guy on the street corner. Which show would you rather see?
“But even at that, it’s just not right that at Christmas time fans are being asked to pay for two pay-per-view shows.
“It just doesn’t make sense and it’s not something I would have done if I had been in the same position as Hearn.”
