Floyd Mayweather coming back for more than one fight

Despite numerous retirements, Floyd Mayweather can’t seem to stay away from the ring.

The former pound for pound king recently announced that he intends to rematch Manny Pacquiao three years from the first meeting. Now, Floyd says he wants a tune-up beforehand.

Mayweather and Pacquiao met up to talk the second fight in Japan, with the American plotting a ring return in Tokyo – before facing the ‘Pacman’ again.

“I know everybody heard about the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, but before the Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch, I will be back in Tokyo for a huge boxing event. Stay tuned,” Mayweather US media outlet TMZ Sports.

Yesterday, Pacquiao had announced his own plans but said Mayweather wasn’t his only option.

“We’ll be finalizing this week. Either Mayweather or somebody else, where and when, what date,” said Pacquiao.

“There’s also Amir Khan, Terence Crawford, and Adrien Broner.

“We met in Japan at an event. It’s a big fight. We just ran with Mayweather in Japan, and the reaction of the fans was so big.

“Maybe we can do the fight in Tokyo,” he added.

Further updating on the situation, Pacquiao told ABS-CBN News:  “We cannot say when or exactly what date. (Floyd will be) announcing his comeback from retirement.

“He wants to fight and challenge me. He wants to get my belt. Right now, we’re negotiating and hoping to finalize that.

“I’m always available. I’m always available for him. It’s important to (get the rematch), as we have unfinished business. We’ve been waiting for a long time,” said the eight-weight champion.

DECEMBER

The reception to Mayweather and Pacquiao’s plan has been lukewarm at best since inception last weekend.

Despite that fact, estimates range between 2 and 3 million Pay-Per-View buys for a rematch, slated for December.

Showtime is favorites to land ‘MayPac 2’ – whilst Mayweather’s intentions for an Asia warm-up can push the fight back to spring of 2019.
