Mayweather, Pacquiao in post-Vargas hotel room meeting, May rematch possible – Roach

Pacquiao defeated Vargas to reclaim the world welterweight title and the tag of pound for pound king at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas last weekend, where Mayweather made a surprise appearance for the main event.

After Pacquiao’s victory, Roach says Mayweather and the Filipino Senator spent time together to discuss a rematch of their initial clash in 2015 which broke all box office records out of the water.

“Mayweather came to the fight, and I heard they met later on in his (Pacquiao’s) room,” Roach confirmed in an exclusive interview with The Philippine STAR. “Hopefully, they worked it out that we can fight one more time.”

On when the fight could take place, Roach seems to think both fighters can agree another meeting around late spring time.

“Now, if we’re going to fight, it looks like Manny has a break in session in April and May. So that means in the month of April I’m heading to the Philippines until he’s out of session. So we’ll have a fight in May if everything works out correctly,” explained the multi-time coach of the year before also confirming Pacquiao’s Senator duties are having no bearing on his continued career in the ring.

“Now this is serious. This is not singing and this is not making movies. Because Manny’s always wanted a full plate; he’s always been busy.

“Timewise it didn’t bother, because once Manny’s in the gym he’s the best student ever. No matter what time he comes, no matter how tired he may be or how fresh he may be, he still works hard every day. I’m happy we can still fit fights in,” said Roach.
