The first round was competitive after a tentative start from Herbert, who picked up the pace in the second round. The 27 year-old began throwing three and four punch combinations and had some successes.
In the third, Herbert boxed behind his jab commanding the round. Into the fourth, Herbert was throwing eye-catching combinations once again, landing many flush. A four-punch combination left Scriven visibly marked up at the end of the fight.
Herbert won 40-36 on the referee’s card.
‘Cazelo’ has his next contest at Rushcliffe Leisure centre on the 7th of May against Vaclav Skromach. Tickets are priced at £30. Also on the bill, Lee Churcher won the WBF Intercontinental middleweight title following a second-round knockout of Hungarian Balazs Horvath at Pill Millennium Centre.
Newport’s Churcher, 35, came out all guns blazing and had his opponent on the canvas twice before landing the all-important blow which Horvath couldn’t recover from.
Horvath had already found himself on the canvas twice in round one, first through a slip and then a Churcher push, before a right hook sent him down again.
Churcher floored Horvath with an uppercut in the next and again thanks to a crunching right, and that proving to be the punch that gave the Welshman the belt.
