Loeffler: We could do Golovkin v Murray in the UK

Golovkin’s manager Oleg Hermann has already told WBN that there is an offer on the table for the fight, which seems unlikely due to visa issues on Murray’s side. Loeffler has now stated that he is open to the idea of staging the fight on the former British title holder’s own turf in order to raise the profile of ‘GGG’ further in the process.

“The media are asking some of the potential match-ups for Gennady down the road and certainly Martin Murray is one of the top middleweights in the world,” Loeffler told Sky Sports’ Ringside.

“‘The performance he had against Sergio Martinez has proven that and if it’s a fight that can’t be made here in the states, it could be interesting to see if it is something we could do over there in the UK.

“Macklin, Barker, Murray, Andy Lee, there are a lot of great fighters over in the UK and we would be excited to build Gennady’s name a lot more over there,” he added.

Golovkin, 31, is currently the most feared puncher on the planet after his three-round pounding of Matthew Macklin and has a date set aside for November 2 in New York.

That could now conceivably be switched to Britain in order to seal the Murray deal, although rival Barker may overtake Murray if he claims the IBF title against Daniel Geale on August 17 on HBO.
