‘Twitter King’ relinquishes crown: Malignaggi steps back over Mosley tweets

The WBA welterweight champion, who once stated that he was able to tweet inbetween rounds of a world title fight, had over 40,000 followers on the platform and regularly answered the fans directly to earn himslef the crown.

Malignaggi, 32, even displayed his Twitter persona alias on his trunks for fights and stipulated that any follower requiring a response to a tweet directed his way should end their own inquiry with the hashtag #tk.

The ‘Magic Man’ as he is known in the boxing ring, made the announcement (of course on Twitter) to step away earlier today and now only plans to post up news surrounding his upcoming fights in the future.

The New Yorker had been in negotiations to fight Mosley on April 27 in the second defence of his title, but has now switched his attention to former light-welterweight champion Marcos Maidana and hopes to seal the fight after the Argentinian accepted his offer (on Twitter).
