World Boxing News is delighted to reveal that respected and award-winning boxing writer Dan Rafael has joined as a leading contributor to the website.
Rafael has previously worked with USA Today and held a long, distinguished partnership with ESPN until 2020.
In 2013, the Boxing Writers Association of America awarded the Nat Fleischer Award for Excellence in Boxing Journalism to the New Yorker.
WBN pursued Rafael after securing long-term funding from a collaboration lasting for an initial five years. The option of an extension to ten years remains on the table.
Once approached, a deal was agreed quickly with Rafael, who joins to add his extensive expertise to the long-running boxing news source.
Pleased to be on board, Rafael can’t wait to get started once the site relaunches with a new design this week.
“There’s nothing I enjoy more than covering boxing, so I’m very appreciative that World Boxing News has asked me to be part of the team,” said Rafael.
“I’m looking forward to adding to its coverage of the sport we all love. I can’t wait to get started.”
Editor Phil Jay, who instigated securing the services of Rafael, is thrilled to be able to deliver such as big-name addition to WBN.
“I’m over the moon to have Dan Rafael on board at WBN,” Jay stated. “Dan comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge of the sport from over two decades.
“I do not doubt that bringing in Dan will be the best move for WBN moving forward in the future. I look forward to Dan’s contribution.”
Present at the recent Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders event in Texas, Rafael was as informative as ever. With a packed boxing schedule to come, Dan will be a must-follow for boxing fans.
