Vasyl Lomachenko discussed his immediate and prolonged future this week ahead of a world title defense against Anthony Crolla.
The formidable Ukrainian puts his WBA lightweight belt on the line against his mandatory challenger on Friday night.
Lomachenko holds ambitions of fully unifying at the 135 pound division. But ‘Loma’ knows he cannot underestimate Crolla.
The Briton is a former belt holder himself and has experience of sharing the ring with a top fighter like Jorge Linares.
‘Million Dollar’ traded 24 rounds with Linares, a man Lomachenko was able to stop late on.
Speaking with just days to go until fight night at the Staples Center, Lomachenko was in confident mood.
“I anticipate a good and entertaining fight. I want to enjoy (myself) during the fight. All of my fights, I have enjoyed,” said a relaxed Lomachenko.
“Before the fight, you’re nervous a little bit, but when you step in the ring, it’s your place. You step into your house, relax and enjoy the fight.
“On April 12, I am going to show my best style and give the fans a great show. I am excited to fight at STAPLES Center. The fans in Los Angeles are special and appreciate my boxing style.”
UNIFY
Speaking further on his ambitions at lightweight, Lomachenko addressed a potential Mikey Garcia (WBC holder) or Richard Commey (IBF champion) fight.
“I still want that fight, 100 percent, but it is up to Mikey. Can he cut the weight? I don’t know. But if he can make 135, I want to fight,” pointed out the 31 year-old pound for pound king.
“My goal is to unify all the titles. If it’s Commey later this year, that would be a great fight. Any champion, I would want to fight.
“I want IBF and WBC belts. I want to go down in history as a great champion,” he added.
Garcia is yet to decide his fate after losing to Errol Spence comprehensively at welterweight. Should Garcia decide to head back down, Luke Campbell awaits as number one contender.
For Commey, it seems a much easier encounter to make. The Ghanian will surely have an eagle-eye on this weekend’s proceedings in L.A.
