The highly-talented Michael Conlan has revealed that his long-awaited homecoming fight in Belfast will take place in the coming months.
Conlan (5-0) enjoyed a successful first year as a professional, winning all five of his contests and fighting on some of the biggest shows in America after signing for Top Rank in 2016.
But, after bouts in New York, Chicago and Brisbane, Conlan is eyeing a return to Northern Ireland in what would be his first fight there in the paid ranks.
“I know I’m definitely fighting again in May, or the end of May, start of June, in Belfast that’ll be,” Conlan exclusively told World Boxing News.
“That’ll be my homecoming fight. Fighting in Belfast would mean the world to me.
“Belfast obviously is my home and I want to give back to the fans who come from Ireland to watch me. They spend their hard-earned cash to come and see me.”
“I made sure when I signed with Top Rank that in my contract I would have at least one fight a year at home in Ireland. That’s what we aim for and we’ve got it.”
“I feel that I have to do it for my fans and for the people who do come to support me. They do pay a lot of money to come and see me.
“I feel that it’s going to be an amazing night and it’s something that I’m really looking forward to.”

Furthermore, the former World, European and Commonwealth amateur champion also said that’s looking to fight half a dozen times in 2018.
He could be part of the rumored pay-per-view event headlined by Jeff Horn vs Terence Crawford.
“The Horn-Crawford card could be a potential one in between the St Patrick’s Day fight and the Belfast fight,” continued Conlan.
“I would like to get out again and be on that card so I can stay busy.”
“I’m looking for maybe five or six fights this year. After Belfast, we’ll be looking to fit a few more in after that.
“Top Rank has a great way of bringing fighters along at the right time and at the right speed.
“I feel like I am blessed to have a team like that around me,” he added.
