Florian Munteanu has beaten off tough competition to play Ivan Drago’s son in the latest installment of the ‘Rocky’ franchise.
Sylvester Stallone made the announcement via his Instagram account on Monday evening, revealing the Romanian boxer had won the role.
Munteanu joins Michael B. Jordan and Stallone himself in the forthcoming movie, scheduled for release later in 2018.
The 26 year-old has posted several pictures of his training regime on his social media platform and by what we can see, Munteanu certainly looks the part.
At 6ft 4ins and 250 pounds, Munteanu is a beast in his own right and should fit into the role nicely, whilst a name for Drago’s offspring is set to be made public soon.
DRAGO
Dolph Lundgren has already been confirmed to reprise his 1985 role as Drago, in which the Scandinavian originally shot to fame as the Russian steroid-taking puncher.
In ‘Rocky IV’, Lundgren’s character killed Apollo Creed, played by acclaimed actor Carl Weathers – who is also the father of Jordan’s character Adonis.
It seems the plot will pit the two son’s together in a rematch scenario, which gives Adonis the chance to avenge his dad’s death and fight off his life demons.
Official information about the movie is yet to be released, although Rocky Balboa was suffering from cancer during ‘Creed’ and there’s speculation he could be killed off in the upcoming sequel.
