Miguel Berchelt v Mickey Roman delayed, set to happen mid-2018
World Boxing Council super featherweight champion, Miguel ‘Alacran’ Berchelt, will defend his belt in February in his native Cancun, while the official challenger, Miguel ‘Mickey’ Román, will make one more fight in his native Ciudad Juárez before clashing in mid-2018.
Promoters Fernando Beltran and Osvaldo Küchle assure that everything going well for this championship bout, but before it, there are commitments to be fulfilled.
“Obviously it’s a high interest fight. Roman surprised many by defeating warrior Orlando Salido, but we’re going to stick to the plan we had. Berchelt is going to fight in Mexico in February, almost certainly in Cancun, and then we will see how he is doing to fight Roman, “said Beltran.
“We are sure that Berchelt is going through the best moment of his career and we consider that he has everything to defeat everyone in the division, so he has earned the opportunity to fight at home as champion. And then, returning to the American market,” said the President of Zanfer Promotions.
On the Roman side, Küchle said that in the next few days they will try to define a fight this coming February for Miguel Roman in Juarez, just as long as he can then fight the champion.
