Kanat Islam, Brandon Cook discuss imminent super-welterweight battle

The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the International Specialized Exhibition Astana EXPO-2017.

All Kazakhstani boxers, who had the honor to represent the country, took part in the press conference.

The meeting with the media was also attended by the main characters of the upcoming Boxing Evening – undefeated Kanat Islam and Brandon Cook, as well as their promoters Nelson Lopez and Tyler Buxton.

Here is what the participants had to say:

“For the second time, I am boxing at home and for me it is a huge responsibility. Kazakhstan has become a recognized and respected state in the world and I want to show the world how strong the spirit of the Kazakh people is. We are ready for battle.”

“I’m looking forward to our fight with Islam. It’s difficult to say something about the opponent. Everything will be clear when we get into the ring. If you want to know what kind of boxer I am and what power I have, buy a ticket and come to the arena on September 9th. I’m sure that I will not disappoint you.”

NELSON LOPEZ, Promoter of Kanat Islam

“A really big event is coming. For Kanat Islam, this is one of the most important battles in the career. We are preparing and we want to please many fans of Kanat with a memorable victory over a strong opponent.”

“Brandon Cook is a difficult opponent and this is confirmed by the fact that he has never lost before. Cook is worthy of respect for having agreed to fight in a foreign territory. Whatever happens, on 9 September we will be ready to give unforgettable impressions to everyone.”

TYLER BUXTON, Promoter of Brandon Cook

“We are very happy to arrive in Kazakhstan. We see how much interest is present here in boxing. I have been working with Brandon since his very first fight. I know with what great desire he is preparing for this fight. Cook is ready to fight in any territory and on September 9 we want to win.”

“I have bigger plans in the future, but for now I have to focus on this 10-round fight for now.”

“I am against a veteran fighter on Saturday. It won’t be easy for me.”

“My management team is negotiating my next fight in American. I can’t wait to fight in HBO and showcase my talent my skills.
