Wanheng Menayothin wins six-rounder, closes on Mayweather / Marciano record at 46-0

The 31 year-old, who defended his 105 pound title for the sixth time in January, defeated Jaysever Abcede via unanimous decision on Friday to push his impressive C.V to 46-0.

Mayweather and Marciano both announced their respective retirements one short of the magical 50 mark and Wanheng, real name Chayaphon Moonsri, has plenty of time to overhaul the feat.

Wanheng is expected to defend his green belt against Mexican number one contender and mandatory challenger Saul Juarez in the near future.

Nicaraguan Roman Gonzalez came close to hitting 47-0 before losing a majority decision to Wanheng’s compatriot Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in what a major shock at Madison Square Garden in New York earlier this month.

Former pound for pound king Mayweather is currently on the cusp of attempting to hit 50-0 with a comeback fight against UFC star Conor McGregor in the second half of 2017.
