EBU lightweight champion “Prince” Edis Tatli (29–1) and women’s WBC champion Eva Wahlström (19–0–1) will be back in action in May. The two champions are set to fight at Gatorade Center in Turku, Finland on May 6th.
“Their opponents will be announced shortly. We’re in the last stages of negotiations,” says matchmaker Pekka Mäki.
The last time Tatli and Wahlström were seen in action was in December as both scored impressive victories over Manuel Lancia and Anahi Esther Sanchez, respectively. Tatli TKO’d his Italian challenger in round 9 and Wahlström scored a unanimous decision over the Argentinian Sanchez in what proved to be a hard, all-action ten rounder.
“I actually fought my very first amateur fight in Turku on 2001, so the city holds a special place in my heart. I scored a victory then, and I plan to continue the winning streak on May. Can’t wait!” Tatli says.
The undercard of the event will be announced in the coming weeks.
The event is hosted by Dominus Boxing Group.
