Coldwell looks forward to Economides, Cooke title tests

Paul Economides from North Wales has the chance to climb the world rankings when facing Sean Davies for the WBC international title and Jordan Cooke goes up against Andy Keates with regional honours on the line. Coldwell is delighted to have secured the opportunities for his fighters.

“It promises to be an interesting night and I’m still a little shocked it’s all come together,” revealed Coldwell. “The news got to me last weekend about Gamal Yafai having to pull out and I was gutted because he’s a good kid and this was a big chance for him. I’ve gone to Paul with the fight and even though he fought on the big Echo Arena show last week, he took this fight without hesitation as its a chance for him to make a big statement, collect a belt and also crash the rankings.

“I’m proud of him the way he has just took this fight without hesitation and I’m certain he’ll come out of this fight with huge credit. This is one of the parts of the job I love when you can just provide your fighter with a big opportunity when no one is really expecting it.”

On Cooke, Coldwell added, “You may have heard me go on about Jordan quite a bit but believe me when I say that this lad can fight. He’s impressed plenty of times now and this Saturday he gets the opportunity to get his hands on the Midlands title which means a domestic title shot won’t be far away. This is a good test for him and will give me a good indication of where he is at but I’m in confident mood ahead of the show and I think it’ll be a great night for Coldwell Boxing.”
