Unbeaten Jose Benavidez Jr. shot in the leg, life not in danger
Welterweight contender Jose Benavidez Jr. has been taken to hospital after being shot in the leg in Arizona, Pheonix police have confirmed.
According to TMZ Sports, the 24 year-old was walking in the street when Benavidez was approached my a suspect who subsequently opened fire.
Benavidez, 25-0 as a pro and signed with Top Rank, was struck in his leg, although authorities have stated the Californian’s life is not in any danger.
‘Merciless’ recently scored a decision win over Francisco Santana on the recent Terence Crawford v Viktor Postol undercard and has names like Mauricio Herrera and Jorge Paez Jr. on his unblemished record.
