Look: Arroyo on course for Gonzalez at 30-day weight check
McWilliams Arroyo felt comfortable this week as he weighed 120.2 pounds at the WBC 30-day mandatory weigh in for his fight against the WBC flyweight champion Roman “Chocolatito” González, to be held on Saturday, April 23 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
The bout is the co-feature of a show feature middleweight world champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin defending his belts against Dominic Wade on HBO.
McWilliams (16-2, 14 KOs) weighed this afternoon at the Puerto Rico Professional Boxing Commission, under the supervision of Commissioner Dommys Delgado, and weighed 120.2 pounds, three less than the maximum allowed by the WBC, 123.2 (10% over 112 pounds), at this date.
The 2008 Olympian from Puerto Rico, whose twin brother McJoe is the IBF super-flyweight monarch, will have on the Nicaraguan Gonzalez (44-0, 38 KOs) an also former world champion at 105 and 108 lbs.
The bout Arroyo-Gonzalez will open the transmission on HBO at 10:00 pm, followed by the clash between Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) and Wade (18-0, 12 KOs) on April 23.
