Barry McGuigan defended the recent heat surrounding heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in an appearance on The Clare Balding Show airing on Thursday night.

The former world champion, who now oversees the career of super bantamweight star Carl Frampton, was chatting with Balding alongside David Haye and son Shane, who is an accomplished trainer in his own right.

McGuigan was asked directly about the recent controversy caused with comments in a UK media interview, but says boxing needs characters like Fury and that the top division ruler is not a nasty guy.
