Kris George pitted against Andrew Wallace on January 29

“This is the perfect way to start the year for me,”George said.

“I’ve always said I want big fights and this is a stern test against a seasoned fighter who recently went the distance with the undefeated Kaewfah Tor Buamas in China for the WBC Continental title.

“If I can beat him on January 29 hopefully that can lead me to a title shot.

“This fight is basically a title fight because if I don’t win I can forget about fighting for a belt later in the year.

“Ï’ve made it no secret I want to fight the likes of Jeff Horn, Cameron Hammond and the list goes on.

“If I can make a statement against Andrew Wallace hopefully it helps draw me to a big fight.

“I repect Andrew Wallace and know he is a big challenge but believe I’m equal to the challenge,”George said.

George has taken his professional record to seven wins and one loss while Wallace has ten wins and one draw from sixteen bouts.

“This bout just adds to a great night of fights on the 29th of January,”Promoter Brendon Smith said.

“Kris is hard to place in this country because he’s built quite a repuation as being very heavy handed.

“However Andrew Wallace had no hesitation in taking this fight.

“He has experience all over the World and to go the distance with the undefeated Kaewfah Tor Buamas who is 20-0 with thirteen knock outs shows he has no fear of taking on power punchers.

“Over six rounds this one will be a real crowd pleaser,”Smith said.

It caps off a busy night for trainer Craig Monagle who also has Jamie Hilt fighting on the card.

“It’s exciting to have two fighters from the trading blows gym feature on such a big card,”Monagle said.

“I believe this is a really good fight for Kris.

“He’s worked on a lot of things since his loss to Xu Chan last year and I was impressed with how he looked against Daniel Maxwell in October.

“Andrew Wallace is another step up and I’m sure Kris will rise to the challenge.

“Kris George amazes me, he is so hungry to fight the best out there.

“Hopefully he can have a good win against Andrew Wallace and it will open up doors for a big fight later in 2016.

“However for now our only focus is Andrew Wallace and we will leave no stone unturned to ensure Kris is in the best possible shape he can be for January 29,”Monagle said.
