JMM to promote November 14 card; Duran backs Canelo over Cotto
Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez has announced he will star as promoter on November 14 when he presents a boxing match at the Arena Coliseum of Mexico City offering five fights with the national championship on the line.
Ciro Nucci, President of the Boxing Commision of Mexico City , commented to Marquez he will support him to organize this event.
As part of the card, Ulises “Ratoncito” Lara and Estrella “Chacala” Valverde will defend their national champions while the former world champion, Rodrigo “Gato” Guerrero, will try to become a national champion.
Juan Manuel claimed that he is now in negotiations with a TV Network in order to broadcast the card to Mexico and USA.
Also, Panamanian historic champion, Roberto “Hands of Stone” Duran, who was in Venezuela recently to witness the Jorge Linares fight predicts that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will defeat WBC middleweight champion, Miguel Angel Cotto.
“I think “Canelo” is the new star of boxing. He has youth, power and even though he has lost a fight (to Floyd Mayweather), he has great qualities.
Miguel Cotto is a good fighter, but he is not now at his best moment. I think Alvarez will win this match,” Duran commented about the fight the Puerto Rican and Mexican will hold on November 21st in Las Vegas.
