Craig Morris in third pro outing on September 4

The 23-year old pugilist stopped Latvian southpaw, ViktorsDrizlionoks, at the Walsall Town hall last month and insists he would welcome more early finishes.

“I was really pleased with how the fight went,” explained Morris. “Everything went to plan.

“I spoke to my trainer before the fight and we wanted to get the stoppage to try and make a statement.

“He caught me in the opening minute with a good shot but once I landed the left uppercut which put him down, my confidence just grew from there.

“Apparently he broke his nose which I didn’t actually realise at the time but it’s nice to know that I have the power to get an early finish.

“ I can’t wait to get back in the ring now.”

Morris will appear on the undercard of Black Country Boxing’s ‘Home Turf’ event at the Banks’s Stadium as the former Ludlow school captain aims to continue his development in the paid ranks.

The Shropshire market town hadn’t boasted a paid fighter for 75 years prior to Morris’s emergence, something that he takes great pride in.

“If I can get my opponents out quickly then brilliant,” he added. “I want to keep busy, get lots of rounds in and grow as a boxer.

“I’m not a brawler. I like to box but we’ve been working a lot on my power shots and targeting the body.

“Of course I’m looking to box as much as I can but I proved in the last fight I have what it takes to take them out as well.

“I want to put on a good show because I’ve got a great following who have been really supportive.

“Ludlow is a small place, everyone talks and knows each other’s business so it’s been a bit surreal all the support I’ve had.

“There’s a whole community behind me which is great but once I step into the ring I just have to block all that out.

“I’ve got a good team with me and I believe in what they tell me.

“I’m not looking too far ahead at the moment.

“My first goal is to win a midlands title. That’s the plan. Get more experience and step up to contend for titles.
