Promoter Frank Maloney, now Kellie, undergoing sex change

When boxing promoter and former Lennox Lewis handler Frank Maloney backed away from the sport recently following defeats suffered by star fighter David Price, little was know about the secret life he was actually planning.

In truth, 61-year-old Maloney was already undergoing treatment for a sex change and had since been fully living as a woman named Kellie.

The Londoner, who is famed for guiding Lewis to the undisputed heavyweight title and a lasting legacy, told The Sunday Mirror of the lie he was living as he struggled in a world where being macho was everything.

“I was born in the wrong body, and I have always known I was a woman,” Kellie told Matthew Drake.

“I can’t keep living in the shadows. That is why I am doing what I am today. Living with the burden any longer would have killed me.

“What was wrong at birth is now being medically corrected. I have a female brain. And I knew I was different from the minute I could compare myself to other children.

“I wasn’t in the right body. I was jealous of the girls.”

Maloney has hardly been heard of since retiring almost a year ago in October 2013, and the full extent of why has now been revealed in what is one of the most shocking headlines to hit the sport in recent times.
