Bellew throws in the head as Stevenson weigh-in ignites

The 30 year-old, who narrowly missed out on winning the World Boxing Organisation title against Nathan Cleverly two years ago, instigated a furore between both camps with a verbal lashing that even had promoter Eddie Hearn at the forefront.

Weights for the 175lb contest were made without incident, but what followed may well be a sign of things to come, and if Bellew went to Canada to ruffle Stevenson’s feathers, he managed it quite well.

Stevenson was obviously irate as the Liverpudlian bellowed at him and his camp immediately after the scaling formalities and the two then engaged in what may have been Bellew’s pre-fight plan following an obivious attempt at a head-butt.

It wouldn’t be the first time Bellew has waged war pre-fight as old rival Cleverly and his father Vince called the police after a press conference with the former British champion in the past, and it now seems to be all to play for at the Colisee de Quebec.
