Sylvester Stallone confirms ‘The Expendables 3’ role for Victor Ortiz

The 26-year-old, who has been out of the ring for over a year through injury, is set to take to the big screen next year.

Ortiz will star alongside renowned action star Wesley Snipes. Plus, Hollywood royalty Bruce Willis and Briton Jason Statham.

The first two movies have scored a worldwide success for ‘Sly,’ and the role is a real coup for Ortiz, who recently took to the dancefloor for the latest series of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ on US television.

The California-based fighter has been linked with a return to ring action in the fall, possibly against compatriot Robert Guerrero.

However, they may have another career after the sport if Stallone’s new casting hunch is successful.

EXPENDABLES 3

It’s not the first time a professional fighter has appeared in one of Stallone’s movies after former world title holder Antonio ‘Magic Man’ Tarver took a major part in his final ‘Rocky’ film as Mason Dixon in ‘Rocky Balboa’ seven years ago.

The new movie is set for release in 2014. There are rumored appearances from Mel Gibson, Steven Seagal and Mickey Rourke, amongst others.
