‘Super G’ has had one tune-up since his crushing loss to formidable WBA and IBO title-holder Gennady Golovkin in New York last September, beating 20-loss journeyman Norbert Szekeres in six one-sided rounds earlier this year.
The 28 year-old will now face-off against former Contender winner and WBC belt holder Mora, 32, who makes his comeback from a second career loss to nemesis Bryan Vera nine months ago.
“The fight with Mora is set, the contract is ready, and I can’t wait until June 28,” Proksa told World Boxing News. “This is a great opportunity for me as I have always wanted this kind of fight.
“Sergio Mora is a greatly skilled boxer, and to fight with him is a big honor for me. He was on level what I want to be, so I need to win to get closer to my goal after I lost against Golovkin.”
Proksa is hopeful of one day working his way back to a rematch with the hard-hitting Golovkin after taking the first fight at short notice and will be a keen spectator when ‘GGG’ battles Matthew Macklin in Connecticut at the end of the month.
“I want this second fight with Golovkin as I took the fight with just five weeks to go without a proper camp. I just wanted to fight for a world title, but I lost, and it has taught me a lot. The Mora fight is now a chance to get back, and I am going to prove that in this fight.”

The Matchroom star then gave his take on Golovkin v Macklin and only saw one outcome in the double world title bout at MGM Grand, Foxwoods, the day after his own clash with Mora.
“I really think that Gennady is a great world champion with great boxing skills, and I don’t see Macklin surviving the distance in that fight,” said Proksa.
Before his two defeats to Vera, Opponent Mora had only lost to the great Vernon Forrest, also in a return contest, and squeezed in a draw with ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley along the way. The talented ‘Latin Snake’ has struggled with some inactivity late in his career, though, and comes up against Proksa knowing that nothing but a win will keep his future title hopes alive.
