Sakio Bika: I am fighting for Andre Ward’s full WBC title!

Contender Series winner Sakio Bika has exclusively told World Boxing News that his fight against unbeaten Montenegrin Nikola Sjekloca next month will be for the full WBC super-middleweight title, rather than the interim version as reported.

Current belt holder Andre Ward has recently undergone shoulder surgery and faces long rehab before he can return to the sport, leaving the WBC to act and put in place a match-up for the vacant strap.

“I can confirm that my next fight is for the full WBC super-middleweight title,” Bika told WBN when quizzed about the nature of his upcoming world championship contest.

The contest against 25-0 Sjekloca is pencilled in for the Broner v Rees undercard at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and could see the winner defend the green belt against Ward in his comeback bout later in 2013.
