Jones favours Brook over Khan

The 25 year-old had been tipped to step-in to meet Khan if Lamont Peterson is ruled out following a failed drugs test, but is expected to meet Brook in the summer, with the winner in line to face Mike Jones or Randall Bailey – who meet on June 9th for the vacant IBF Belt.

Brook, 26, defeated former European champion Matthew Hatton in March to position himself as the top 147lb fighter in Britain and now gets the chance to enhance his reputation further, with a world title chance in sight.

‘The Special One’ has constantly been linked to a money-spinning contest with compatriot Khan and if he can pick up his first world title by the end of 2012, will be in a strong position to do so with the Bolton fighter moving up to welterweight in the near future.

The Yorkshireman holds an impressive 27-0 record with 18 stoppages, making his American on the Andre Ward v Carl Froch undercard last December and with Jones having eight losses on his busy record, will be confident of adding another victory in front of an adoring crowd in Sheffield.
