The BBBofC have arranged for an independent panel to go through the finer points of a fail drug test with the UK Anti-Doping Agency where Fury will find out more about his proposed punishment.
Fury and cousin Hughie are accused of an adverse finding in a past sample and will finally be able to put their side across in the next few weeks.
“December, that’s true,” said Robert Smith, the British Boxing Board of Control general secretary, told Sky Sports on the matter.
“The reason why this has taken so long, so I have been led to believe, is because Mr Fury’s legal team could not agree a date for the recommencement of the hearing. They obviously now have, and the hearing will recommence.”
Should Fury be cleared, the 28 year-old could be back in action by the spring, provided he can get back to fighting fitness.
‘The Gypsy King’ has been training with Ricky Hatton at his Manchester gym and has so far looked sharp when going through his regular workouts.
Fights against Shannon Briggs or David Price are both said to be on the table for Fury in the coming months, whilst all hinges on no further action being taken by the BBBofC.
Should both Fury’s be found guilty, they could face a further spell on the sidelines out in the heavyweight wilderness.
