Step forward ex-British title holder David Price, who defeated Fury on points way back in 2006 at the North West ABA Finals.
Fury asked his social media fans if they’d like to see him attempt to avenge that reverse and got a reply back from Price himself.
The pair then had more back of forth comments, coming to the realization that a future fight may not be out of the question.
Both need a comeback for different reasons as Fury seeks to end two years of inactivity and Price has few options on the back of losing to Christian Hammer.
Retirement had even been linked to Price at the tender age of 34, although the Liverpudlian is now being touted for a return to action next month.
Provided Price comes through his own warm-up Fury could be ready by April, by which time the lineal ruler would have shed the necessary weight and potentially sorted out his gripe with the British Boxing Board of Control and the UK Anti-Doping Agency.
The fight would be massive just for being Fury’s comeback, but add to that the fact Price was the last UK competitor to beat him, and it all makes sense to happen in 2018.
A fight with Anthony Joshua would lie in wait for Fury should he successfully get past Price and then manoeuvre one or two ranked opponents over the next twelve months or so.
