“We are in no rush (to make a decision),” Koncz said before clearing up a statement released by Pacquiao on his decision loss to Jeff Horn was not put out by the man himself.
“That wasn’t Manny and somebody inside the camp just released it,” said Koncz, who conferred with the fighting lawmaker so they could address the issue properly.
“Manny and I both agree that the fight was close and that Jeff Horn deserves credit,” said Koncz.
Talks of a rematch remain high with Horn even expressing his desire to host Pacquiao again in November.
But Koncz insists that Pacquiao “is enjoying some quality time with his family” and that a decision whether he’ll exercise a rematch option will have to wait.
Pacquiao didn’t raise hell shortly after Horn was declared winner as he spoke on the top of the ring.
But the 38-year-old puncher made a turnaround moments later and in the day that followed, he voiced out his disappointment.
David Sisson, a member of Pacquiao’s inner circle, lamented the release of the said statements.
“It’s people in the camp saying stuff who shouldn’t be talking,” Sisson said.
Meanwhile, Koncz also addressed the issue of the supposed non-payment of Freddie Roach’s services, saying Pacquiao and Roach have agreed on a payment scheme that involves their promoter Top Rank.
“For the last five years, we have instructed our promoter to deduct said payment from our guaranteed purse and this is how our corner has been paid,” said Koncz, expressing concern why Roach would raise the issue.
