Duco win Parker v Fury bid, fight set for New Zealand on April 1

The new champion, who claimed the belt vacated by Tyson Fury when defeating Andy Ruiz Jr. in December, puts his undefeated record against the ex-title holder’s cousin, who is also unbeaten so far in his career.

“Duco Promotions wins purse bid for Parker vs H Fury with $3,000,011, bout to take place on April 1st in Auckland, New Zealand with a 60-40 split,” WBO President Paco Valcarcel exclusively told World Boxing News.

Parker had always been favoured to take the fight to home soil, although Fury’s father Peter previously told WBN he wanted the fight to be staged in the UK.

“We are looking at a date in April and hope to bring the fight to the UK,” Fury stated to WBN in mid-January.

It was not to be and Fury now faces the daunting task of taking Parker’s coveted strap away thousands of miles from home. It won’t be the first time in the Fury family though as Tyson dethroned Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015 when travelling to Germany to secure a huge upset.

Hughie has been blighted by a skin condition of late, which has kept him out of action for some months but is now thought to have been cleared up ahead of his first world title challenge.

The ailment caused Fury to fatigue quicker than usual and forced his team to seek out medical help to not hinder his career any further.

Undercard news is due to be swift as both sides have just eight weeks until fight night after previously failing to agree terms.
