Jacobs: I called ‘GGG’ out, ready to let my fists do the talking

The current ‘regular’ champion battles Golovkin for a clutch of belts at Madison Square Garden and Jacobs cannot wait for the first bell to ring for what could be a Fight of the Year contender in New York.

“I’m just excited, I’ve wanted this fight since before the WBA mandated it, I called ‘GGG’ out right after the (second) Sergio Mora fight and right after that the WBA mandated it,” said Jacobs.

“For me it’s the perfect opportunity and the perfect time for this to happen. I’m glad it’s finally happening, in my hometown, pretty sure it’s going to be a sold-out crowd.”

“I look forward to seeing everyone and my fists will do the talking inside that ring. At the end of the day it’s about fight night and as a fighter that’s exactly what we do.

“Much respect to Team Golovkin but we have an amazing plan and we look forward to executing it,” he added.

The winner could move on to face Canelo Alvarez or Billy Joe Saunders in late 2017, although the possibility of a rematch will have to be considered should Jacobs, 29, pull off a sensational upset.
