Mayweather, speaking to Jim Gray, said he ‘absolutely’ wants a fight with UFC champion McGregor, although the money issue remained a stumbling block. McGregor publicly asked for $100m to cross codes and face Mayweather in a Pay-Per-View blockbuster, whilst ‘Money’ only wants to pay the Irishman $15m.
UFC boss Dana White has thrown his hat into the ring by stating he’d give both $25m basic for the bout, which didn’t go down well with Mayweather, who branded him ‘a comedian’ for his trouble.
In another highlight, Mecante took a cuffing punch from the WBC super-middleweight champion and almost went through the ropes until Jack helped to steady him on his feet. Mecante has a decent jaw though, and after the fight, was offered the opportunity to hit Jack in retaliation, which the official obviously turned down.

Everything went down in good spirits though as Showtime kicked off the year with a super show that proved boxing is alive and kicking into 2017.
Jack and Briton James DeGale battled to a Fight of the Year draw on top billing, whilst Gervonta Davis displayed his star quality at super-featherweight with a drubbing of Jose Pedraza in the co-feature.
